What
We Believe — Our Statement of Faith . . .
There are literally hundreds of tools and resources you will find
at HisVictory.com. We fully understand
that the Body of Christ is made up of many different and differing
members who will not agree on the same issues, even when it comes
to what the Bible means or says on given subjects. We cannot therefore
speak for those who publish these web sites, telling you what they
believe.
But in reviewing and selecting the content of these sites, we believe
that the information you will find there conforms, for the most
part, to the following fundamentals of the faith. Those fundamentals
or essentials represent what we believe, and those beliefs have
been, combined with fervent prayer for spiritual discernment, used
to prepare this "Banquet of Biblical Blessings" for
you.
We believe that . . .
GOD, THE FATHER
. . . is One almighty, eternally existent triune Being in three
co-equal Persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit— the Creator
of all things in the universe. He is infinitely perfect, holy, unchanging,
sovereign, just, loving, merciful and good. He is unsearchable.
He is all wise, all knowing, all powerful, all present and worthy
of every creature's honor, worship and obedience. He shares
His glory with no other created being or thing. He loves mercy,
judgment and truth. He cannot tolerate sin in any form and will
in the process of time, subdue and put away all rebellion to His
perfect will by the Lord Jesus Christ, or by eternal separation
of those who reject Christ's provision for sin.
GOD, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, GOD THE
SON
…is deity, true God and true man, conceived of the Holy Spirit
and born sinless of the virgin Mary. Without ceasing to be God,
He became man and lived the perfect, sinless life, yielded to the
perfect will of God, always and only doing those things that pleased
the Father. He is the one and only way to God, the only mediator
between man and God, the truth about God, and the life of God in
Himself. He who never sinned became sin for man as our representative
substitute, a sacrifice, satisfying and turning away God's
full wrath against all sin. He died for man's sins, in our
place, His atonement making us righteous and giving us peace with
God as if we never sinned. He rose bodily from the dead and sits
at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for believers as
their High Priest and Advocate. His resurrection life within man
gives us the power, through His Spirit, to live a victorious life
pleasing to God. Because He lives in believers through faith, man
becomes transformed from glory to glory, faith to faith, into His
image as he reads the Word of God and obeys what he reads. In preparing
believers, the church, to be the Bride of Christ, He longs for all
Christians—His saints—to spend eternity with Him as
His eternal companion. He is not ashamed to call us His brethren,
His body, His temple, His Bride, and to be called out God! To Him
be all the glory in the church, forever and ever. He will return
to earth bodily and visibly as King of kings and Lord of lords to
judge every angel and fallen angel and every human being who has
ever lived, and at the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, every knee
shall bow in heaven and on earth, to the glory of God the Father.
GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT
…is the deity of the third Person of the Trinity, God the
Spirit. Indwelling man, He is the Comforter, the Helper, the Truth,
the Life. He leads believers into all truth about God and Christ.
He resides in each one who makes Christ Savior and Lord, regenerating
them to newness of life. He convicts and convinces man of sin, righteousness,
judgment and leads to repentance, revealing the will of God through
the Word of God to each child of God. He leads and guides the heart
of man to a worshipful, humble dependence and reverence for the
Lord Jesus Christ. He gives spiritual gifts to men and women, sealing
them until the Day of Redemption when He takes them home to heaven.
Through His presence God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above
all man can ask or think. He sanctifies believers, changing them
into the image of Christ progressively, preparing them for the second
coming of the Lord Jesus. He produces in the believer love, joy,
peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, meekness, and
controls self. He guides man in paths of righteousness to glorify
God's holy name. He is a jealous Spirit, not willing that
glory should go to any other but the Father and the Son alone.
THE BIBLE, THE HOLY SCRIPTURES, THE
WORD OF GOD
…is a collection of 66 books in Old and New Testaments in
which God has chosen to reveal Himself to man, and man to himself.
The Word of God is truth, without error, and inspired and revealed
by the Holy Spirit, not by human understanding. Although God used
the individual personalities of over 40 human authors to prepare
the Bible for man, He superintended every word to assure that each
wrote what He moved them to write, without error and without omission.
The Scriptures convert the heart of man that he might know and do
the will of God. Man has all he or she needs in the words of the
Bible to know his Creator, know His will, understand His ways, develop
a personal, trusting and intimate friendship with his Creator, and
live a life worthy of a holy, loving God and Father. Through meditation
and obedience to the Word of God man can experience true victory
over self, sin, and the corruption of the lusts of the world in
which he or she lives. Other than God Himself, the Scriptures are
the only weapon Satan fears, and as the sword of the Spirit, man
can overcome all strategies formed against him by a direct application
of Scripture. In the volume of the Book it is written of the Lord
Jesus Christ and Christ is the complete, all-sufficient revelation
of the living God as God the Son. The Bible is the greatest treasure
man has ever received, far surpassing all imaginable riches upon
earth.
MAN, GOD'S GREATEST CREATION
…is God's highest and greatest creation, made in the
image and likeness of God Himself, to worship Him, serve Him, know
Him, enjoy Him, love Him and ultimately to reign with Him forever.
In Adam man rebelled against the revealed will of God and in that
sin alienated himself from the life of a holy God (who can tolerate
no sin), bringing a defiled and sinful nature to all humankind,
in himself became totally depraved and unable to remedy his lost
condition. God, being outside of time, knew man would sin against
Him before He even formed man in the Garden of Eden, and as the
Lamb of God, Christ made atonement for man's sins, dying for
them on the Cross, and offering man forgiveness and cleansing form
all unrighteousness by the shedding of Christ's precious Blood.
Man is the subject of God's love, desiring to spend eternity
with man as His Bride, the wife of the Lamb. Man will reign with
Christ throughout all ages, seated with Him in heavenly places.
Throughout all eternity God will be glorified and His name admired
in man and man in Him. He is not ashamed to be called their God
because of what His grace has done to make him worthy, without blame
in His sight.
LIFE
…is a gift of God, breathed into man by the Holy Spirit, to
be invested in bringing glory to God, His Creator, and leading others
to a saving knowledge of His love and His grace in the Lord Jesus
Christ. Man receives 1,440 moments each day of his life in which
he is permitted the freedom to make choices — to serve self
or to serve God. Those choices determine where and how he or she
will spend all eternity. All who live will live eternally; either
in heaven with God, or in hell separated from His holy presence
because of their sin, and their personal choice to reject God's
remedy in Christ for their sins. God is not willing that any should
perish separated from Him, but as He did in the Garden, He leaves
the decision to man, saying, "See, I have set before thee
this day life and good, and death and evil . . . therefore choose
life . . ."
SALVATION
. . . is God's remedy to reconcile sinful man to a holy God,
making him fit and worthy for God to indwell and for man to spend
all eternity with Himself. Salvation is a free gift of God's
grace alone, not earned or deserved because of good works of any
kind, and received by man only as he, by faith, believes and receives
the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on his behalf and as
man's substitute, paid the full penalty for them. Man is saved
from eternal wrath against his sins through faith in Christ's
atonement on the Cross, justifying him through faith, turning away
all God's wrath by His Blood sacrifice in his place, redeeming
him from the power and destruction of sin, and reconciling him to
a holy God in love. Those who place their trust in this saving work
of Christ are eternally sealed and secure in their salvation, kept
by the power and grace of God forever, nothing able to separate
them from God's love for them in Christ. Those who are truly
saved will demonstrate that reality by living a life pleasing to
God, His works on display in their yielding their life to the Holy
Spirit, making Christ Lord of their life. Those who are truly saved
on these terms alone will never come into judgment, but will appear
at the Judgment Seat of Christ to receive their rewards for all
that they allowed God to do through them while in the body, and
all to His glory.
THE CHURCH, THE SAINTS, THE BODY
OF CHRIST
. . . is not a building but is instead a living, spiritual organism,
the Body and Bride of Christ Himself. The church is made up of many
members, all born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, His
saints. Through water baptism the church symbolizes and testifies
to their own death in Christ and Christ's resurrection life
residing within them. Through the Lord's Supper, Communion,
the church symbolically and reverently remembers Christ's
death and shed Blood for man until He comes again to take them home.
Through prayer, praise, worship, obedience and the sanctifying work
of the Holy Spirit through His Word, the church as the Body of Christ
is God's instrument to accomplish His will upon earth. All
believers are priests to God and will reign with Christ forever.
The purpose and primary mission of the church on earth is to put
on display to man God's love and purity and goodness and glory,
witnessing of the truths in God's Word, that all may come
to repentance and to know Him, to be saved and bring glory to His
name. Each member of the church is commanded to die to self, allowing
God the Holy Spirit to use him or her, by the light of their lives,
to draw men to the God who loves them, shining in a world lost in
sin, darkness, deception and despair.
VICTORY
…is the resurrection life and presence of the Lord Jesus Christ,
expressing the will and attributes and character of God, in and
through the yielded, obedient believer. Victory is a Person, not
an achievement or an attainment. The Lord Jesus doesn't give
us the victory—He is the victory! As we decrease, He increases,
the love of God poured out in our hearts. Victory is observing the
Holy Spirit use the surrendered life to manifest His strength and
wisdom, His righteousness and peace. Victory is allowing the Spirit
of the living God to be the hand while we submit as the glove. The
essence of victory is this: Get out of the way and put Him on display.
We yield, He works. "For of Him, and through Him, and
to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen"
ANGELS, SATAN & DEMONS
. . . angels are an innumerable company of real, sinless, spiritual
beings created by God to be His servants and His messengers, having
awesome power. Angels are now appointed to serve the church in carrying
out God's will. Lucifer was one of the created angels who,
because of pride found in him, rebelled against God and was cast
out of heaven, leading one-third of the angels with him in the fall.
These fallen angels became demons who, along with Satan, are God's
and man's great enemies. Demonic beings now serve Satan in
his evil purpose to steal the glory from God and spoil His handiwork
in man. Satan accuses man of unworthiness before God day and night,
attempting to drive him away from his God by condemnation, deception,
unbelief and disobedience to the will of God. Satan and demonic
power can be overcome by a focused and prayerful application of
the Word of God — the sword of the Spirit — which they
fear and dread. In the fullness of time, God will judge Satan and
his demonic forces and they shall receive eternal punishment and
torment in the lake of fire, along with any man who rejects God's
remedy for sin through the shed Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eventually even Satan himself will bow the knee at the name of the
Lord Jesus Christ, as King of kings and Lord of lords.
THINGS TO COME
. . . We believe in the blessed hope and promise of the personal,
bodily, imminent, pretribulational, premillennial second coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ. In that second coming He will rapture
His saints, taking them to be with Him as the Bride of Christ, becoming
the Wife of the Lamb. A subsequent visible return of the Lord Jesus
to the earth with power and with His saints will take place to establish
His promised millennial kingdom reign. There will be a physical
resurrection of all who have lived — the saints (all believers)
to everlasting joy and bliss in heaven with Christ. We believe that
the souls of redeemed believers are, at death, instantly absent
from the body and present with the Lord, where they await the first
resurrection when spirit, soul and body will be reunited to be glorified
together with the Lord. While the souls of unbelievers remain after
death in conscious suffering until the second resurrection, when
they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment and shall be
cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer
everlasting and conscious torment, separated from God, because of
their own free choice, refusing His atonement for their sins on
the Cross. Redeemed mankind will reign with Christ over new heavens
and a new earth throughout all eternity, magnifying the glory of
God the Father to all His creation. What a future! What a God!
